How to Make a Picture Window Card – Quick Tutorial!

The response to my picture window card was overwhelming, so I thought I’d put together a quick video showing how I made it! This is such a fun and easy design, and all you need are a few basic supplies:

 Getting Creative with the Everyday Skies Suite  Collection

I often get asked how I come up with my card designs, and the truth is, I always start with something simple to get the creative juices flowing! Today, I’m playing with the Everyday Skies Suite Collection, and I wanted to share a little glimpse into my process.

When I sit down to create, I begin with a basic idea—whether it’s a color, a pattern, or a simple layout. From there, I let inspiration take over, layering elements and adding details until the design feels just right.

Flip Flap Gate Fold Card with FRIENDS OF THE OCEAN

 

“Today, I had a blast creating a flip-flop gatefold card using the Friends of the Ocean suite! This stamp set is so much fun to work with—perfect for bringing a splash of creativity to my projects. I love how the ocean-themed elements came together to make this interactive card extra special. Have you tried making a flip-flap gatefold card before? 

Flip-Flap Gatefold Card Instructions

Materials Needed:

• Cardstock for base: 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”

• White cardstock: Four pieces of 2” x 5 1/4”

• Designer Series Paper (DSP): 4” x 5” (inside panel)

• White cardstock for sentiment: 3” x 4”

• Additional DSP: 3” x 4” (for flip-flop element)

• Embossing folder

• Stamped elements and embellishments

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Score the Card Base

• Take your 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” cardstock and score at 2 1/8” from each end.

• Fold on the score lines to create the gatefold.

2. Layer the White Panels

• Attach the four 2” x 5 1/4” white cardstock pieces to the two outside panels and two inside panels of the gatefold card.

3. Emboss and Layer Decorative Panels

• Take four pieces of 1 3/4” x 5” cardstock and emboss them using your embossing folder.

• Adhere these embossed pieces onto the previously attached white panels (outside and inside).

4. Prepare the Inside Designer Paper

• Cut a piece of 4” x 5” Designer Series Paper (DSP) and set it aside.

• Before attaching it, adhere your flip-flap mechanism to the inside center of the card base.

5. Add the Sentiment Layer

• Take the 3” x 4” white cardstock (for your sentiment) and adhere it onto the 4” x 5” DSP.

• Attach this layered piece to the inside of your card.

6. Create the Flip-Flop Element

• Cut a 3” x 4” piece of DSP and place it into the plastic flip-flop mechanism.

7. Decorate Your Card

• Use stamped images, die cuts, and embellishments to decorate the front and inside of your card.

• Add your sentiment to complete the design.

January's Hearts For You Paper Pumpkin & Alternatives

 

Today, I’m excited to share my January Paper Pumpkin kit, Hearts for You, along with the creative alternatives I came up with!

I love how versatile this kit is, and to stretch its potential, I cut up the card bases and combined them with elements from the Elegant Marble Suite. This allowed me to create even more beautiful cards that are perfect for any occasion.

In addition to the cards, I used the kit and the suite to design a scrapbook page that truly captures the spirit of love and creativity. It’s always so satisfying to see how much you can do by mixing and matching elements!
